Easter Holiday Prep

Duration: 5 days: Monday, March 30th – Friday, April 3rd

Location: Pencil Spaces Online link (Shared Space & Private Space)

Daily Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM with 1 hour Lunch Break

Day Structure: AM & PM sessions which include worked examples and demos and followed by students independently working on questions.

Are you worried about your child's upcoming exams?

Or simply want a head start?

Why are these sessions right for you?

Designed for Foundation GCSE, struggling Higher level (grade 6 or below) and KS3 students, these sessions provide personalised attention and targeted practice to boost confidence and mastery in maths.

  • Targeted exam practice: Focus on exam technique for the AQA and Edexcel exam board and key topics covered.

  • Detailed Demos and self practice: See how to do questions, ask questions and do examples in your own space.

  • All levels welcome: Support for all KS3 students, Foundation GCSE or students struggling with Higher GCSE level. We also provide support for Year 10 & 11 resits.

  • The Progress Report: You and your child will receive a personalised report detailing what they’ve achieved and exactly which "focus areas" they should revise next and a plan of how to do it with the resources to help.

  • DBS Certified and a Qualified Tutor member: Meaning you are in safe and credible hands.

🖥️ How each day will work

This isn't just a video call. It is an interactive group digital classroom where your child can still get active, 1-on-1 support.

Part 1 - The Demo (Shared Space): We start with live, step-by-step examples for the topics of the day. Students watch the tutor solve problems and will have the opportunity to ask questions as they go along.

Part 2- The Practice (Private Space): Students move to their own, bespoke and private digital workspace to try questions. When trying out examples, no one else other than your child and the tutor can see their answers and workings out!

Individual Support: The tutor monitors every student’s work in real-time through the Private Space. If your child gets stuck, the tutor can enter and provide 1-on-1 support. It's a great way for the student to receive help if they would feel embarrassed for asking for help in front of a group.

More Details

How to access the sessions

We will be using Pencil Spaces, a leading digital classroom designed specifically for subjects like Maths. It allows for a "Live Classroom" feel where students can interact with me and their work in real-time.

1. The Digital Classroom Setup

Our sessions are split into two "Virtual Zones":

The Shared Board: This is where I teach the "Concept & Model" sessions. Students will see me writing live, breaking down exam questions, and highlighting key formulas.

The Personal Space: During the "Action Sprints," every student gets their own private area on the board. I can see their work as they do it to provide instant feedback, but other students cannot see their "Personal Space"—ensuring a private, low-pressure environment to make mistakes and learn.

2. Recommended Devices

Recommended

iPad or Tablet with a Stylus (e.g., Apple Pencil, S-Pen)

Writing math by hand is the fastest way to learn. Students can write directly onto the digital worksheet just like a real piece of paper.

Recommended

Laptop/Desktop with a Mouse

Perfect for viewing the "Shared Board." Students can use the "Text" tool to type answers or use the mouse to draw

Recommended

Laptop + Graphics Tablet (e.g., Wacom/Huion)

If the student already has a plug-in drawing tablet, this is as good as an iPad.

❌ Not Recommended

Mobile Phones

The screen is too small to view the complex exam diagrams and work on the board simultaneously.

3. Connection Requirements

Browser: For the best experience, please use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

Internet: A stable Wi-Fi connection is required as we will be using live video and an interactive whiteboard.

Audio: Headphones with a microphone are recommended so the student can ask questions during the "Example" sessions without background noise.

4. How to Join

The Invite: You will receive a unique "Pencil Spaces" link via email 24 hours before the program starts, 1 hour before and 10 minutes with reminders of the sessions.

No Installation Needed: You do not need to download any software; the link will open directly in your web browser.

One-Click Entry: Simply click the link, enter the student's name, and they will be in the waiting room ready for our 10:00 AM start.
